Couples & Family Counseling

Healthy intimate relationships are a key component in overall happiness and emotional well-being. When communication is lost and relationships become unhealthy, individuals and families often feel isolated, confused, and can become easily angered. Our compassionate and open-minded approach is effective at helping couples and families improve the quality of their relationships. When couples are faced with infidelity, emotional trauma can have devastating effects. If left untreated, the consequences will likely impact future relationships. We use solution focused techniques that are designed to rebuild trust and promote healing. Our clients learn valuable communication and problem-solving skills that are beneficial in the cultivation of healthy intimate, personal, and professional relationships.

Children & Adolescent Therapy

Children and adolescent therapy focuses on helping children bring about positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through the use of play therapy and other age-appropriate interventions, we create a safe and creative space for children to learn more about what they are be struggling with (i.e. anxiety, ADHD/emotional regulation, depression, low self-esteem, etc) along with healthy ways to cope and problem solve. We use a family-based approach which promotes family engagement and positive interactions. Individual and family needs are assessed, and treatment plans are developed and tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family leading to healthier functioning and skill development for lasting change.

At Risk & Victims of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence (also called intimate partner violence (IPV), domestic abuse or relationship abuse) is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship. The abuse includes behaviors that physically harm, arouse fear, intimidates or prevent a partner from doing what they wish or force them to behave in ways they do not want. It includes the use of physical and sexual violence, threats and intimidation, emotional abuse and economic deprivation. Many of these different forms of domestic violence/abuse can occur at any one time or within the same intimate relationship. Domestic violence does not discriminate and can happen to anyone. It affects people who are dating, married, or living together. It happens to both men and women of all races regardless of their socio-economic status, culture, and educational level.

Through our trauma informed and non-judgmental approach, we support clients as they make decisions to end or change the dynamics of their unhealthy or abusive relationships. Individual therapy and family therapy provide our clients with the support and tools they need to heal and live a life free of violence and abuse. Once our clients have begun to heal from their trauma, we incorporate a psychoeducational approach which helps our clients gain a better understanding of the cycle of abuse while also learning life and relational skills that are essential for building healthy intimate and personal relationships.
